Bernie Magaña, Pumas San Bernardino going to Pumas Mexico
We will miss you Bernie but we wish you the best!....Te extrañaremos Bernie pero te deseamos lo mejor!

Bernabe “Bernie” Magaña who for the past four years has been playing outstanding goal keeping for our ’93 team has seen his, and every other youth player’s dream come true.

This August, Bernie will be moving to Mexico City to be part of the Pumas Fuerzas Inferiores team.  He will train under the supervision of Mr. Guillermo “Memo” Vasquez, the Director of Player Development for Club Universidad Nacional, A. C. - Pumas.

Memo Vasquez, has been instrumental in the players coming up from their Fuerzas Inferiores (Player Development) teams to the first team. Former Mexican National Team players; Hugo Sanchez, Manuel Negrete, Miguel Mejia Baron, Claudio Suarez, Luis Garcia to name a few have come thru the teams that Mr. Vasquez has been in charge of.  Most recently, from the team that won this years Torneo Clausura for Pumas, Sergio Bernal, Efrain Juarez, David Toledo, Marco Palacios, Israel Castro and Pablo Barrera to name just a few of the 14 players on the first team.

Bernie was able to participate with the ’93 Pumas team in the 2008 and 2009 Dallas Cup as part of his preparation to his move to Mexico City and had been invited previously to train with Pumas in Mexico City.

Bernie, gratefully thanks Pumas San Bernardino GK Trainer Juan Placensia for pushing him as hard has he has for the four years Bernie has been with Blast SC \ Pumas San Bernardino.  “There were times I wanted to quit, but Juan always asked for that “extra push” and I was able to deliver it”.

“I also want to thank Jose “Profe” Santana, Pumas SB Technical Director for his guidance and leadership that no doubt has helped me grow these past few years”, “Having someone with the experience Profe has, playing at the highest level with an organization that believes in working with youth players helped me get there”.

While Bernie claims leaving his parents, Maria and Arturo, his brother’s Junior and Jose will be very hard, he is looking forward to the challenges leaving away and training twice a day to fulfill his dream
