Helping our players stay healthy and pain free
Better Medicine, Less Pain!

Pumas players will benefit with the endorsement and working relationship with Excel Physical Therapy as they will provide follow up care for injuries using the latest FDA approved treatments.

Dave Patel, PT, CSCS is specially trained in the management of orthopedic extremity and spinal dysfunctions including adolescent sports injuries. A hands-on approach to assessment and treatment of physical conditions is the hallmark of our practice.

Range of motion, stretching, joint/soft tissue mobilization, strengthening and neuromuscular re-education are specific techniques used to reduce pain, restore range of motion and strength, and increase function. As patients obtain their goals in physical therapy, they are taught home exercise programs and given strategies for preventing future injuries.

Laser

Using the latest sports therapy instrument; the 830 Laser, players will be able to recover from sports incurred injuries faster and be able to heal better.  The 830 Laser therapy is used by the U. S. Olympic Training Committee, top NFL teams and major soccer clubs throughout the world.

Girls U18 Champions
Good Job Girls!

The Girls U18 team completed their participation in the Orange County Kickoff Classic with a tough loss in PK’s after holding the Cypress Elite team to a scoreless tie in regulation time playing a “man” down 25 minutes of the second half.

Earlier in the morning, the girls tied the RFC Matrix team in a scoreless game to advance to the final. The team missed four players from their starting line up and still managed two great games.

On Saturday play, the team beat the Central United Valley Heat (No. Cal) 5-1 and the Ohana FC team based out of Henderson, Nevada by a score of 4-2.

On Sunday’s game, Ashley Gallegos stepped in and played GK for the games and did a tremendous job in the final holding the Cypress Elite and RFC Matrix teams to shut outs. A high fever kept regular GK Chanel Abelon from playing where she has done a great job for the team.

Ashley was helped by one of the stingiest defenses around led by Co-Captain Kendra Wilson and Silvia Sanchez. Gabriella Carbajal and Aubrey Jensen, two new additions to the team have learned the system well and have been playing exceptional soccer since joining the team.

Midfield players; Angie Juarez, Martha Zamora, Cindy Cruz, Alexandra Campos, Taylor Kincherlow, Renee Lane and Lauren Swan played great soccer the entire weekend as they have done throughout the season.

The forwards were led by Co-Captain Estephany Monroy with Nailah Johnson doing a great job and complimented by the playing of Lucy Sanchez.  The team missed the aggressive playing of Sarai Evans for the weekend.

This was the first weekend the girls played without their best friend and stopper Lindsey Hetz. Lindsey has moved on to the “college life” at Northern Arizona University after leading the team for the past 5 years.

The past few weeks have seen the girls winning the Goya Cup, Rangers Classic and Copa Pumas tournaments and are looking forward to the start of play in Coast Soccer League.

Pumas San Bernardino at Copa Tucson hosted by Atlas
Great job boys!

3 Pumas teams were selected to participate in the first International Copa Tucson 2008.   Players from our U12, U13, U14, U15, U16 and U17 were chosen to participate representing our Academy program in the Copa Tucson Tournament.  The tournament will feature teams from the Atlas Academy programs from Mexico and USA.  The boys will travel first class in a Deluxe Motorcoach provided by our sponsor, Coach Skyline Inc.  The San Bernardino Pumas teams were invited after the impressive showing of our ’90’s boys at the 2nd Copa Zorros tournament in Escondido, CA where our team was a finalist in that age group.

The Boys U16 and U18 came home with first place wins.

B14 Cal Cup Champions!
Great job boys, we are proud of you!

The Pumas B14 team came home with the Championship trophy with an impressive 6-0 record outscoring their opponents 28 to 1 along the way.

With only one sub during the two weekends of California Cup games the boys showed they were for real and won praises for their play from opponents and spectators at the San Bernardino Soccer Complex who stopped by and wished the boys success.

The boys, coached by Pumas Director of Coaching Jose Santana played to near perfection only allowing one goal while scoring 28 goals in their six game run to the Championship.

Bernie Magaña, GK for B14 with Pumas UNAM
playing at Dallas Cup

Bernie Magaña, GK for our U14 team was invited by Pumas UNAM Mexico to play in the 29th edition of Dallas Cup.  Pumas lost their first game 1-0 on a heart breaker to Santa Clara Sporting from Northern California.

Tuesday’s games were cancelled when the Dallas area saw over 4 inches of rain and a tornado watch.  Games resumed on Wednesday March 19.
With Bernie on goal, Pumas played Wichita, Kansas’ Magia Soccer Club. Bernie made a good impression on the Pumas UNAM coaches earning a shutout on his first complete game with the Mexican side.

For their last game, Bernie played the second half against the Tigres Academy team from Houston.  Bernie made some great saves and kept his goal average at 0.00 during his play at Dallas Cup.

Bernie has been invited to go and train with the Pumas UNAM squad during the summer and was asked to join their youth program in Mexico City, Mexico.

Great Job Bernie!
Pumas take second place at the 2nd Copa Zorros USA

< div>

During the 2008 Easter Weekend a team made up of 20 players from Blast Soccer Club played in the 2nd Copa Zorros USA Cup in Escondido, California hosted by the Atlas Academy.  The team played in the ’90’s age group and finished second in that flight.
The Pumas San Bernardino team was made up of only 3 ‘91’s and 17 ‘92’s.  They played a total of six games and came up with a record of 4-2 losing twice to the Champions of the Atlas Academy team from Tucson, Arizona.  The Tucson team was made up of players born on 1990.  This was the first of many tournaments our teams will be playing combining players from different age groups to encourage individual development and team success.
